What is Glutathione?

Glutathione is a tripeptide made from glutamate, cysteine and glycine. Its name identifies a small peptide molecule containing three amino acids.

Glutathione is often written as γ-glutamyl-cysteinyl-glycine. Gamma specifies how the glutamate component is connected to the next amino acid, giving more structural detail than the number of building blocks alone.

GSH denotes reduced glutathione and GSSG denotes glutathione disulfide, the oxidised form. Both may appear in the same publication but describe different chemical forms.

Glutathione and other tripeptides

Glutathione and KPV each contain three amino acids, but their building blocks and bonds differ. Tripeptide describes chain length rather than one shared substance.

The catalog mg quantity refers to the named product. It does not specify a GSH-to-GSSG ratio or a concentration in mg/ml.

Frequently asked questions about Glutathione

Are Glutathione and glutation the same name?

Yes. Glutathione is the English term and glutation is the Swedish term.

What do GSH and GSSG mean?

GSH denotes reduced glutathione, whereas GSSG denotes glutathione disulfide. The distinction matters when describing chemical forms.

Which variants of Glutathione are listed?

Listed variants: 1500 mg. The quantity belongs to each product variant; current availability is shown in the variant selector.
